The thought of a meatball panini brings back such good memories. When I was in high school, my grandma would take me out for lunch every so often. Our favorite place to eat was Corner Bakery Cafe. I would always order their famous meatball panini that was served with carrot sticks and a bag of chips. Mmmm!
Now that I do not live as close, their famous panini inspired me to make my own meatball panini. The summer before I went off to college, my grandma bought me my very own panini maker, and I have enjoyed using it ever since. Continue reading to learn how to make your own meatball panini in 5 simple steps.
Step 1: Preheat the panini maker or pan to medium-high heat.
Step 2: Slice meatballs into thin slices.
Step 3: Butter one side of each piece of bread.
Step 4: Layer your ingredients.
Step 5: Cook the panini and enjoy!
Meatball Panini Recipe for Two
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
4 slices of sourdough bread
4 slices of provolone or mozzarella cheese
marinara sauce
6 meatballs, thinly sliced
butter
DIRECTIONS:
Pre-heat your panini maker or pan to medium-high heat. Slice your cooked meatballs into thin slices. Butter one side of each side of bread.
On one slice of bread, layer ingredients in the following order: meatballs, marinara sauce, and cheese. Then layer with another slice of bread, with the buttered sides facing outwards.
Place sandwich on the panini maker and press down for about a minute until sides are golden brown and cheese is melted. If cooking the panini on the stove, be sure to place the sandwich in the pan and cook one side for about two minutes, and then flip the meatball panini to the other side and cook for about a minute until outsides are golden.
Tip: Feel free to add on additional layers of sauce, meatball, and cheese if desired.
