I absolutely love breakfast foods! Cereal, pancakes, eggs, french toast… you name it! If there is breakfast being served, I am so there.
French toast is such an easy recipe to make and you cannot go wrong! Unless you’re me… One time when I was single, I decided that I wanted something different for breakfast and so I attempted to make french toast. It was soggy and icky! It reminded me of the french toast I could get at my junior high school. So I decided that I was never going to make french toast again.
It wasn’t until after my husband and I got married that I decided to try french toast again. But this time, I wasn’t the one cooking. My husband woke up one morning and said, why don’t we have french toast? I was a little hesitant, but he brought me my plate and I think I had about four slices. It’s a regular meal in the rotations.
French Toast for Two
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
2 eggs
¼ cup milk
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
4 slices of bread
butter, for serving
DIRECTIONS:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and the milk. Once blended, add in the cinnamon and the vanilla, and mix until well blended. Grease the griddle and heat to 350°F. Or if using a non-stick skillet, place over medium-high heat and melt a tablespoon of butter.
Dip one slice of bread into the egg mixture and then flip to coat the other side. Place the dipped bread onto the griddle or skillet, and cook until golden brown (about 2 minutes). Gently flip and cook the other side until golden brown (about 1 minute).
Repeat until all of the slices are cooked and serve warm with butter and your choice of topping (fresh fruit, whipped cream, powdered sugar, syrup, etc).
