This Week On The Inter Webz: Meat Sauce Tips

A popular family favorite, but do you know all of the hacks and tips? I am here to compile them all together and offer them in one blog! Sometimes we think that great tasting pasta sauce takes time and effort, but it can be a dish that takes very little time and preparation!

Tip #1: Season your sauce well! Do not be afraid to add a little bit of this or a little bit of that. There are many combinations of seasonings and finding the right one that you love can make all the difference in pasta sauce.

Tip #2: If you have the choice between dried herbs or fresh herbs, use dry herbs! Dried herbs have more flavor than fresh herbs, last longer, and are more cost affordable. They also store easier, and are so accessible when you are in a time crunch. There is no need to pull out a cutting board, knife, and wash off the dried herbs in the sink. Just grab and go!

Tip #3: Simmer the meat sauce. This will aid in capturing all the sauce's flavor. I usually try to simmer my meat sauce for 20 minutes at the minimum. When I have more time, I will simmer the sauce for longer.

Tip #4: When draining your pasta, save some of the pasta water to help the sauce stick to the noodles! It also helps with the consistency of the sauce. Try just a little bit at a time and add more as you stir.

Life is about exploring all the “pasta-bilities!” I love adding new spices to my pasta sauce and trying new flavors. And if you know me, you know I absolutely love pasta. So it is a win-win situation!
